Behind the scene – Bless’ed Are The Meek SS12/13

I went behind the scene on the recent Bless’ed Are The Meek look book shoot and It’s been difficult sitting on these great footage waiting for their MBFWA debut last Friday. The shoot had a total dream team with the gorgeous Ollie Henderson from Chic, photographer Justin Ridler, stylist Bex Sheers and makeup artist Rae Morris. I had to do a double take when I saw Rae’s name on the call sheet, yes THE Rae Morris, I mean, I own a book by this awesome lady!

From whites, sheers, to pastels, prints and to sequins and blacks, I see the collection as a story of a mermaid who ends up on the dark side. I love how the collection has a story and represents different sides of the same girl. Some days we want to be angels, other days we want to be witches, but you know, we also want to look sexy at both ends of the spectrum. Lucky, cos Bless’ed’s got you covered.

Behind the scenes – The Innovators

There are only 1 more sleep til fashion week and around town, there’s already a different buzz in the air, well ok, the crisp autumn air helps. As the international jet set flys in, the local fash set gets ready, I want to bring your attention to the next crop of Australian designers. They are The Innovators, 5 hand picked fresh graduates from TAFE Sydney Institue, their alumni include the likes of Akira Isogawa, Dion Lee and these 5 fresh picks will get their very own show at MBFWA next week! Back in January I went to see their graduate show and I’m happy to say, many of my favourites will be showing next week.

Since the graduate show, most designers have added new pieces to their collection, with 1 designer rumoured to be creating an entire new collection! I went to take a look at their recent video shoot in preparation for fashion week and it was such a pleasure to see the garments up close, see how much work’s gone into each individual piece and hear the designers talk about their own work.

Behind the scenes – Hussy S/S 2011-2012 Look Book

I was lucky enough to be behind the scenes on the recent Hussy Spring Summer 2011-2012 look book shoot. Dana Fernie, Emily Fang of Little Black Book and myself were there courtesy of Door 121.

The shoot was set in the lovely Cooper Park in Woollahra, catching the soft late afternoon sun just before sunset. The shoot started almost 2 hours late, but I suppose this is pretty typical in fashion biz. Marie Ritchie, the designer of Hussy held the reigns and was shooting the look book herself with a team of makeup, hair, stylist and assistants all at her side.

I had never been to Cooper park before, but it is just gorgeous bathed in the golden sunshine, I think I’d have to bookmark this one for myself for shoots in the future. Now back to Hussy, the outfits I saw on the day were gorgeous and very Hussy, soft feminine shapes, lovely prints with pops of girly colours, definitely great for those balmy summer days and nights!

Now now girls and boys, unfortunately I can’t show you much of the clothes as the collection hasn’t yet launched, so this is a bit of a teaser. Closer to the collection launch date I shall show you more pics and maybe even a video!

I love those orange sandals! The gorgeous lilies are set to adorn model’s hair.
