Natalie Cantell – Sydney

The weather here in Sydney has been fantastic lately! Not too cold, nice and sunny, gorgeous yellow/orange/red leaves everywhere, just what autumn should be. That weather + Natalie = dream boat photos. I first met Natalie last year at New Zealand fashion week, she is always so lively and positive, not to mention, stunning and her winning smile, my gosh, so infectious! Natalie is a model, stylist and fashion editor. She always puts together looks that are effortlessly chic, the girl knows the way to a street style photographer’s heart. Gorgeous and talented, Natalie is one to watch!

Taylor Tomasi Hill – MBFWA Sydney Australian Fashion Week 2012

This fashion week has been a bit of a dream come true, I got to photograph many of the street style stars I’ve gotten to know and love through guys like Tommy and Phil and one of them is Taylor. She is never boring, I love how Taylor always has fun with fashion and it helps that she has killer legs to boot. When you work in fashion, it’s easy to live in this bubble and take clothes and shoes way too seriously, so I love seeing industry veterans take a more light hearted approach to fashion.

Oh, can we talk about Taylor’s sunglasses? Clearly reflective eyewear is staging a major comeback, cutie Margaret had some nice silver ones too. I remember reflective sunnies as something douche guys wore in the late 90s, or even worse, remember those reflective ones with holograms??? “Dudeeee, your sunnies have skulls in them, fully sick bro…” Yeah, no thanks. Ok, back on track, I wouldn’t mind Taylor’s orange ones and the wayfarer shape is nice and preppy. Plus there’s one really really big advantage to reflective sunglasses… no one can see if you roll your eyes at them! Oh the joy of Xiaohan-logic.

Phoenix Keating – MBFWA Sydney Australian Fashion Week 2012

I only photographed 2 guys this week. Throughout the week, I was so busy shooting and editing my backstage snaps for Vogue.com.au that I only got a combined few hours to shoot street style and what I saw from the men were a little disappointing. In my opinion, most of them simply tried too hard. Call me old fashioned, but I like men to dress and look like men.

Phoenix is a pretty cool guy, he’s a fashion designer and super talented too. Lady Gaga wore many of his designs when she was in Australia, enough said.

You know the thing I love most about this look here is the jeans. It’s only something I noticed later when editing the photos, but look how the raw denim has been perfectly worn and personalised. Note the faded knees, the natural creases, the left pocket where the wallet is kept and the right pocket where the phone is kept. This is the ultimate customisation.

Oh and Phoenix’s friend photo bombed us too!

Zanita – MBFWA Sydney Australian Fashion Week 2012

Zanita is a / kind of the girl, you know the this/that/everything girl, well Zanita is model/photographer/blogger/babe! I first spotted and photographed her at fashion week in 2010 (here and here), and it’s been utterly amazing to see her style evolve and see her trajectory shoot straight up.

When I first got to know her, I thought she was so sweet and cute and even though we’ve known each other a while now, it still shocks me a little the stuff she says after a drink or two! Let’s not get into details here, cos that’s a whole other blog post! But you know what, I love her all the more for how candid she is, I find it really endearing and just so damn cool.

Geneva – After Ellery

I’ve been reading Geneva’s blog since forever and I’m such a fan, but I only met her for the first time the other day! Isn’t it crazy in this social media world where you feel like you know someone really well but you’ve never actually met them in person?! Crazy huh!

Geneva’s outfit kind of blows my mind. The pastels, the DIY bandeau, the paper bag clutch and the fact that she is just simply gorgeous! Yes… I think I’m having a girl crush moment here :)
